Cabbage Rice


Ingredients:

Cabbage – 2 ½ cups

Rice – 2 cups

Water – 4 cups

Salt – 1 ½ teaspoon

Roasted peanuts – a handful

Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon

Cumin seeds - ½ teaspoon

Garlic - 1 clove (finely chopped)

Oil – 2 teaspoons

Coriander leaves - 1 teaspoons (finely chopped)

Powders:

Chilli powder – ½ teaspoon

Sambar powder – ½ teaspoon

Corrinader powder – 1 teaspoon

Garam masala powder – ½ teaspoon

Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon

 

Method:

  1. Cook rice with a drop of sesame oil with 4 cups of water.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick kadai.
  3. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and allow spluttering.
  4. Add finely chopped garlic & fry till golden brown.
  5. Add finely chopped cabbage, salt, powders mentioned & mix well.
  6. Keep closed for 3 to 5 minutes stirring occasionally.
  7. Allow cooling, add to cooked rice & mix well.
  8. Garnish with coriander leaves & roasted peanuts & serve with raitha/fried papad.
