Jhal Muri

Ingredients:

Puffed rice – 3 cups

Potato – 1 medium sized

Onion – 1 medium sized

Tomato – 1 medium sized

Cucumber – ½ of a long piece

Green chilli – 1(optional)

Coriander leaves – 4 teaspoons (finely chopped)

Mustard oil – 2 tablespoons

Roasted peanuts – 3 tablespoons

Sev – 3 tablespoons

Masala powders:

Red chilli powder – 1 teaspoon

Kala namak – 1 teaspoon

Chat masala powder – 1 teaspoon

Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon

Yield: Serves 3 to 4

Method:

  1. Boil the potatoes (make sure they are still firm and not become mushy).
  2. Remove skin and chop into small cubes.
  3. Finely chop the onions, tomatoes, cucumber, coriander leaves and also the green chilli if using.
  4. In a large bowl combine all the ingredients well.
  5. Taste and adjust the masala to suit your taste and serve crunchy.

Note: Make sure to make this recipe just before eating as the puffed rice becomes soggy when left for some time.
