Potato Masala


Ingredients:

Potato – ¼ kg

Onion (big) – 1

Green peas - 100 gms

Curry leaves – 5

Coriander leaves – 1 teaspoon (finely chopped)

Chilli powder – ½ teaspoon

Garam masala powder – ¼ teaspoon

Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon

Turmeric powder –1 teaspoon

Green chillies – 3 (cut into halves)

Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon

Oil – 1 teaspoon

Besan – 1 teaspoon

Kasoori methi – 1 teaspoon

Method:

  1. Cut potatoes into halves
  2. pressure cook potatoes & peas for 2 to 3 whistles with ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder.
  3. Once cooled, peel skin & mash potatoes coarsely.
  4. Heat oil in a non-stick kadai, add cumin seeds.
  5. Add curry leaves, green chillies and onions.
  6. Add all the powders mentioned & sauté till onions transparent.
  7. Add mashed potatoes & a tumbler of water.
  8. Allow boiling for 3 minutes.
  9. Paste besan with 1/4 tumbler of water & add.
  10. Allow boiling for 2 more minutes.
  11. Garnish with kasoori methi & coriander leaves.
  12. serve hot with poori/chappathis.
