Thengai Poorana Kozukattai


Ingredients:

For Pooranam:

Coconut – 1 cup (grated)

Jaggery – 1 cup (powdered)

Elaichi powder – ½ teaspoon

 

For Outer Covering:

Raw rice – 1 cup

Salt – a pinch


Method:

For Outer Covering(Mel Maavu):

  1. Soak rice for 3 or 4 hours.
  2. Grind to smooth paste.
  3. Heat a teaspoon of coconut oil in a non-stick kadai.
  4. Add the ground paste.
  5. Keep stirring until that turns transparent & into a ball.
  6. Allow to cool.
  7. Make small balls.

 

For Filling:

  1. Mix coconut & jaggery in a microsafe bowl.
  2. Micro HIGH for 5 minutes & allow 2 to 3 minutes standing time.
  3. Allow cooling.
  4. Make into small balls.

Once made arrange in idli plates.

Steam in an idli cooker till it whistles.
