Vazaikai Podimas (Raw banana)


Ingredients:

Vazaikai – 1

Hing – ¼ teaspoon

Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon

Ginger - ½ inch piece

Coconut oil – 1 teaspoon

Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon

Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon

Roast & Grind:

Urad dal – 3 teaspoons

Tuar dal – 3 teaspoons

Curry leaves – 10

Red chillies – 2

Method:

  1. Peel skin of raw banana.
  2. Cut into halves.
  3. With adequate water boil raw bananas with turmeric powder & ginger till just cooked. (care should be taken not to overcook them)
  4. Allow the boiled pieces to cool.
  5. Grate the boiled pieces.
  6. Roast & grind ingredients mentioned.
  7. Heat oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, hing & allow spluttering.
  8. Mix grated vazaikai, seasoning & ground powder, mix well.
  9. Can have it as a dry curry as such or mixing with rice.
