Javvarisi (sago aka sabudana) – ¾ cup
Raw sugar (or) white sugar – ¾ cup
Milk – 2 ½ cups
Water – 1 cup
Ghee – 1 ½ teaspoon
Kesar colour - a pinch
Cashews – 5
Cardamom powder – ¼ teaspoon

Method:
- Heat 1 teaspoon of ghee in a non-stick kadai & add sago.
- Fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Transfer contents to a pressure cooker.
- Add kesar colour, water & 1 cup of milk.
- Allow 2 to 3 whistles.
- Heat ½ teaspoon of ghee in a non-stick kadai.
- Break cashews into small pieces & fry til golden brown.
- Add boiled sago, sugar & the remaining milk.
- Allow boiling till payasam thickens.
- Add cardamom powder & mix well.
- Serve hot.
