Green pulav

Makes: 4 serves

Ingredients:

Mint leaves – 1 bunch

Coriander leaves – ½ bunch

Green peas – ½ cup (optional)

Oil – 2 teaspoons

Curd – a tablespoon

Basmati Rice – 1 ½ cups

Coconut milk (or) water – 2 cups

Salt – 2 teaspoons

Tempering:

Cinnamon – 2 pieces

Cloves – 5 pieces

Bay leaves – 3 pieces

Cardamom – 2 pieces

Grind coarsely:

Ginger – ½ inch piece

Garlic – 1

Green chillies – 3

Method:

  1. Soak Basmati rice for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a non-stick kadai.
  3. Add seasoning & fry till golden brown.
  4. Add ground paste & sauté for a minute.
  5. Add chopped onions & fry for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Add chopped salt, mint leaves & coriander leaves, fry for an additional minute.
  7. Add the green peas & curds, fry for 2 more minutes.
  8. Add cooked mixture, rice & coconut milk to electric rice cooker & cook.
  9. Serve hot with raitha.
