Lemon Rasam

Ingredients:

Tomatoes – 2 (cut into big pieces)

Green chillies – 2 (cut into halves)

Ginger – 1 inch piece

Rasam powder -1 teaspoon

Cooked moong dal – 1 tablespoon (karandi)

Coriander leaves – 2 teaspoons (finely chopped)

Hing – ¼ teaspoon

Lemon juice – 2 teaspoons

Tempering:

Ghee – 1 teaspoon

Mustard seeds – 1 teaspoon

Method:

  1. Add tomatoes, green chillies, ginger, rasam powder & hing to 2 ½ glasses of water.
  2. Allow boiling till raw smell vanishes.
  3. Dilute moong dal in 1 glass of water.
  4. Add this dal water to the boiling rasam.
  5. Allow boiling for 5 to 7 minutes. (Till bubbles on top surface)
  6. Heat ghee, add mustard seeds & allow spluttering.
  7. Add this seasoning & coriander leaves to the rasam.
  8. Wait for the rasam to cool a bit, add lemon juice.
  9. Mix well & serve hot with rice.
