Onion & Potato Bajji

Makes : 2 - 4 serves

Ingredients:

Besan (kadala maavu) – ¾ cup

Rice flour – ¼ cup

Chilli powder – ¾ teaspoon

Salt – 1 ¼ teaspoon

Hing – ¼ teaspoon

Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon

Cooking soda – one pinch

Water – 1 cup approx.

Oil – for deep frying.

Veges:

Potato – 1 mid sized

Onion – 1 mid sized.

Method:

  1. Slice the veges neither too thick nor too thin.
  2. Mix together all ingredients except oil.
  3. Add water and prepare batter neither too thick nor too thin.
  4. Dip the vege slices in batter and drop into hot oil.
  5. Fry till golden brown and drain onto paper towels.
  6. Serve with coconut chutney.

Options: Even other veges like carrot, brinjal, vazaikkai, bajji chilli could also be prepared in the same way.
