Chenai Eriserry

Makes : 4 serves

Ingredients:

Chenai (yam) – 300 gms

Black eyed peas – a handful

Salt – 2 teaspoons

Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon

To grind:

Coconut – ½ cup

Cumin seeds – ½ teaspoon

Pepper – ½ teaspoon

Tempering:

Coconut oil – 1 teaspoon

Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon

Red chillies – 2

Curry leaves - 10

Method:

  1. Soak the black eyed peas for 2 or 3 hours.
  2. Boil the chenai & black eyed peas till cooked with salt & turmeric powder.
  3. Add the ground paste & allow boiling for 5 minutes.
  4. Heat coconut oil & add the ingredients mentioned under seasoning.
  5. Add the seasoning & serve hot.
