Channa Cabbage Kootu

Makes : 4 serves

Ingredients:

Cabbage – ¼ kg (chopped)

Channa – 1 cup (boiled)

Salt – 1 ½ teaspoon

Turmeric powder – ¼ teaspoon

Oil – 1 teaspoon

Mustard seeds – ½ teaspoon

Channa dal – 1 teaspoon

Urad dal – 1 teaspoon

Grind to paste:

Hing – ¼ teaspoon

Coconut – 5 teaspoons (grated)

Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon

Cooked tuar dal – 1 tablespoon

Green chilli – 1

Rice flour – 1 teaspoon

Method:

  1. Boil cabbage sprinkling a handful of water.
  2. Add channa & ground paste.
  3. Allow boiling for 5 more minutes. (Till a thick gravy consistency)
  4. Heat oil in a kadai.
  5. Add mustard seeds & allow spluttering.
  6. Add channa dal & urad dal, fry till golden brown.
  7. Add this seasoning to the kootu.
  8. Serve hot with rice.
