For Pooranam:
Coconut – 1 cup (grated)
Jaggery – 1 cup (powdered)
Elaichi powder – ½ teaspoon
For Outer Covering:
Raw rice – 1 cup
Salt – a pinch

For Outer Covering(Mel Maavu):
- Soak rice for 3 or 4 hours.
- Grind to smooth paste.
- Heat a teaspoon of coconut oil in a non-stick kadai.
- Add the ground paste.
- Keep stirring until that turns transparent & into a ball.
- Allow to cool.
- Make small balls.
For Filling:
- Mix coconut & jaggery in a microsafe bowl.
- Micro HIGH for 5 minutes & allow 2 to 3 minutes standing time.
- Allow cooling.
- Make into small balls.

Once made arrange in idli plates.
Steam in idli cooker till it whistles.
